2. Download the software

You will need to download the Locaccino Locator on your laptop to be able to share your location with your friends subject to privacy rules you define. Unless you explicitly create rules, no one can see your location.

3. Go to the Locaccino Dashboard on Facebook

If you have the Locaccino Locator installed properly you will be able to see your own location within a few minutes. If necessary use the refresh link.

4. Create rules

You can create rules to share your location with “Who,” “When,” and “Where” restrictions. Without these rules only you can see your location.

Go to the Privacy Settings page in the Locaccino Dashboard on Facebook.

Click the “Add New Rule” button so that we can walk through you creating your first rule. Each tab allows you to specify conditions under which your location can be shared. The “Who” tab allows you to set which people can see your location; “When” allows you to set the times and days they can view your location; and “Where” allows you to limit your location sharing to specific areas on a map. Each rule allows you to selectively share your location with specific people, during specific days and times, and only when you are at specific locations.

By default a rule with no networks or groups selected in the “Who” tab, will apply to all of your Facebook friends. To restrict this you can choose who has permission to request your location by selecting an entire network or groups that you can create.

By default the “When” tab does not have any day or time restrictions. If you’d like to change this, click the button next to “Part of the time…” and choose the desired days and times when you are willing to share your location.

By default the “Where” tab allows your location to be shared no matter where you are. Select the “Add Location” button to restrict sharing to one or more specific areas. These areas are defined using our map interface.

Currently our map interfaces requires you to define one area at a time. Click and drag the corner of the blue box to resize and move the rectangle to specify the desired area on the map where you wish to share your location. Click Save to add this location. This can be repeated to define multiple areas for a single rule.

When you’re done editing a rule, click Save Changes at the bottom of the window to save the rule. You can add as many rules as you need to properly capture your location sharing prefences.

At any time you can view all of your active rules on the Privacy Settings page of the Locaccino Dashboard and modifty them as needed.
